  What is the purpose of life?

  while reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.

  because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".

  i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

  To what animals can we trace such things?

  To the simplest life form. Life grew (evolved) more complex over 3.8 billion years. That's plenty of time to create humans who can count to infinity and beyond.

  the usa, claiming that the usa supports freedom, has often supported revolutionaries/dissenters in other countries.. some examples:.

  currently, the syrian war commenced circa 2011 in the so-called arab spring.

  it is claimed that the usa supplied weapons to anti-government forces.

  Trump was elected democratically. No comparison. If you don't like it, make sure you get as many people to vote for your candidate next time around.

  If you remove context looks bad. But the overwhelming majority of people were trapped between a bad choice and a worse choice. The people in the list would have never chosen Trump if they had been offered more choices than just Clinton.

  i'm sure many people, republicans included, are shocked at the results of the 2016 presidential election.

  really, wtf!.

  the polls were wrong and although it's tempting to blame voter suppression and fbi interference, that would just avoid looking at the real issues for the loss.

  That's a lot of people, if you are referring to the general election. But it's a very small number (close to zero) if we set the clock before Trump announced he was running.

  Many Trump supporter held their nose up when they voted. They revolted against liberals who do as they say (Obamacare) and conservative politicians who don't fulfill their campaign promises. I don't think they are dumb-asses. They are just tired of the establishment and the status quo, and Trump was their only alternative.

  You exacerbated your insults with false accusations. Now you are pretending to take the moral high ground. Predictable.

  Well. I did have better things to do. I was invited by friends to help feed the homeless. That's far better than going around and around over a trivial comment I made. Basically I said that I didn't like Harris use of some insults towards Trump, but you can't let go of anything that diverges from your views, even unimportant comments.

  Oh hell. Let me add another insult. You are an ingrate too. I didn't trash this thread. I kept it alive far longer than it deserved. Furthermore, don't forget that it takes two to tango.

  "pathological liar". I paraphrased Harris, because he implied it. Trump, just as many other of his ilk can be proven to be liars, but I wouldn't go as far as comparing him to people in mental institutions. If you can prove it, then show me the evidence.

  Please deal with this statement "parroting your biases". Exactly what are my biases? I agree with you on the essence of Harris' podcast. I said so more than once.

  I just feel that he is a high caliber intellectual who is capable of delivering his message more effectively. I said so multiple times too. Exactly what are my biases? Have you failed to notice that I implicitly have stated my admiration and respect for Harris? The reason I am disappointed at his podcast is because no one else, other than the late Hitchens, can practice the dialectic method better. His podcast is better suited for Bill Maher.
